LOOKING TO THE FUTURE RAMBLINGS OF A RETIRED DOG LADY

I will no longer be able to handle my dogs in the show rings because of my back and knee injury following my car accident .And I have also managed to further damage my knee having fractured it in 2015 .So I am so grateful for those whom own a show dog from me and continue on in the rings in my stead and continue to fly the UMKIMZULU flag into the future .Best of luck to everyone and I look forward to putting up the show results ..

MUST BE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT ?

It was a humbling experience to me when fellow breeders while on our holiday in Budapest and Helsinki coming up to me and said I know you you are Umkimzulu I love your dogs !!

BREEDING PLANS

This year I continue to introduce new bloodlines and collaborate with fellow breeders both here and overseas to improve on what we already have .

In my opinion that's what we have to do to keep this breed going forward not just look at what we have in our own pedigrees .Every litter bred we learn something and we can never say we know it all because we don't and our aim is to breed the best

Ridgebacks we can .Titles are great but I don't really take that into consideration when looking at combinations . I look at the DOG not the titles it may or may not have. Health testing again very important to us .DM and EOAD .

To tally the year in the showrings Hawley finished top 5 on the dogzonline rising star for ridgebacks in Australia.

Number 1 rising star ridgeback in WA .

Umkimzulu took many awards this year Including a BISS and a RUBISS at Open shows Ridgeback Specialtys .

Including property classes. Best head best ridge best puppy in show .

Sophie had her pups she was very sick and without my vets expertise we would not have the pups we have .The pups were very small and needed 24 7 care .Sophie is now fully recovered and back to her usual happy self .

Back into the show rings to title the Border Terrier Cricket and finished off a good year in the show rings .

MO promoting responsible pet ownership and putting the Ridgeback out the front .

A very sad time for us here at Umkimzulu with the loss of our dear friend Mo Kramer Mo was a great breed ambassador a certified dog trainer and took Amy and Jambo to Obedience Tracking Rally and dancing .

Jambo has been rehoused with a wonderful family and Amy was put to rest as were Mo's last wishes .

While I was away Magenta passed away we miss her very quirky personality here at home .

Mum and I headed away for the weekend but because the weather was dreadful mud ,rain wind and several people had already fallen in the wet and muddy conditions we decided it wasnt worth a dog show and fair to myself nor Toby to stay so came home .

Riley has been in hospital with a chest infection a big thankyou to all his fans who have contacted me ..He is home now and recovering .He will come back into the showring in June to complete is duel title .

Jazmin found a new home in Newcastle and we as her breeders have been in contact with her new family .

In this instance the Ridgeback Club had her listed as needing a new home ,as did we on our web site and dogzonline page .

Its not often but sometimes dogs we have bred need a new home peoples lives change so we are always there to help .Its very emotional for our puppy parents when they have to let a family member go ,we understand and are here to help .

Wonderful news Jazmine NSW needed a new home ,a big thankyou to her new family who live in Newcastle who have taken her into their hearts and home .

River in WA also needed another new home with his Ridgie friend we could have rehomed River but his owners wanted them to stay together so a huge thankyou to Liz Case who found a family for them both in Victoria .
